Apart from their commitment to charitable works, members of the Brotherhood lay great value on meeting one another and exchanging views.
This year again, in glorious weather, the traditional Brotherhood weekend took place from 10th to 12th July. On Friday and Saturday the emphasis was on honouring long-serving members. For the first time, the golf tournament took place at the Golfclub St. Anton.
The highlight of the Brotherhood weekend is the blessing of motor vehicles on Sunday, and was attended by many Brothers and Sisters.
Bishop Dr. Manfred Scheuer celebrated the Holy Mass and carried out the motor vehicle blessing. In his sermon, Bishop Scheuer spoke about the increase in traffic: "It is about occupational mobility, recreational travel or transport of goods – we want every commodity at any time" the bishop pointed out. And he did not only mean external mobility: "We have become wanderers." He also pointed out similarities with the new social networks: "The gap between virtual and real relationships is great", said the Bishop, who views the use of social networks as a "game with one’s identity". "We are becoming travellers between different environments", so Scheuer stated in his sermon, and explained this "escape" as an attempt to distance oneself from pressures and constraints of society. "our experience-driven society is often far from life and this escape from reality is part of this programme. We must take care not to lose sight of our goals – the furthest and longest journey is to oneself, and in a double sense we must find our way to ourselves" stated Bishop Scheuer in his sermon.
The President of the State Parliament of Vorarlberg Mag. Harald Sonderegger, and the First Vice-President of the State Parliament of Tyrol Anton Mattle, conveyed the messages of greetings from States Vorarlberg and Tyrol.
In conclusion, numerous admissions to the Brotherhood were conducted in the Brotherhood chapel.
